Our Story

2017

We met on the 9th of June 2017, at a mutual friend’s 18th birthday party. Adam introduced us to each other as the “social outcasts” of the party, as Craig was in a different class at school to the others and I was in a different school entirely. We realised later that we both felt a spark that first night. My Mom, being who she is, offered to give some of the kids at the party a lift home, Craig was one of the kids, and I was brave enough to ask for his number. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship…

De Uijlenes is an enchanting farm venue near Gansbaai, Western Cape, celebrated for its magical ceremony spaces and relaxed wedding weekends. With its blend of modern-rustic charm, farm-to-table dining, and cozy on-site cottages, it’s the perfect setting to escape the rush and celebrate with your favorite people.

Dress Code

Our wedding will be whimsical and Lord of the Rings inspired, cosplay is welcome/encouraged, but not compulsory.


Due to the season, we recommend bringing a spare pair of sensible shoes and a raincoat or umbrella.


If you are inclined to use the hot tubs at the accommodation, please bring a swimsuit.

Accommodation

We have booked accommodation at the venue. Some rooms are close to the party (Nightjar Farmhouse) while the rest are a short walk away (Nonnetjie Uil House). We have a variety of private and shared rooms which we will assign as best we can to meet needs and preferences.

If you also need accommodation on the 28th (Friday night before the wedding) to ease the amount of travel required on the morning of the wedding, please reach out to us directly so we can accommodate you for both nights.


We kindly ask for a R900 contribution per guest to stay overnight on the day of the wedding. Please attach your name on the EFT reference so we can keep record. Payment details are below:

Both accommodations come with a kitchenette and wood fired hot tub that you are welcome to use during our weekend’s celebrations.

The venue offers breakfasts for both Saturday and Sunday morning which you can ask for the day before at the front office.

You are also welcome to find your Saturday/Sunday breakfast or Friday dinner at a local restaurant in Gaansbaai.
